Trisha Patel is a London based author and illustrator. She is the creator of the children's book character Marley Mole and his debut in Marley Mole Explores the Garden.

From a young age Trish loved creating her own characters, acting out plays and was even part of a children’s choir in a London West End musical. As we entered into a digital age her love for singing and acting took a back seat. Today, the majority of her career sees her deep amongst the hustle and bustle of start-ups, inspiring digital creative teams to design with the aim to evoke positive emotions and experiences.

However, it was her role in her ever-growing family as an aunty to her little nieces and nephews that brought her back to her childhood dream. A ‘made up on the spot’ lullaby about a butterfly inspired the creation of Marley Mole and her very first picture book.

Trish loves to encourage children to act out stories. Whether that’s putting on a character voice or joining in with actions, she believes reading can become an experience that children will want to revisit again and again.

    Isn't it great when you find a book that your 5 year old child can read by 'themselves'? The rhyming sentences, repetitive storyline, fun actions and picture clues to predict the next page make it simple enough for your child to internalise and memorise. Its great when you see your child turning the pages and taking pride in reading full sentences. A great addition to our book shelf at home but also bought a second copy for my classroom. As a teacher I love books that get children speaking with descriptive language. If a child can say it then they can write it (when that time comes!)

    We love this book! My daughter love marley the mole from the first time rrading it. The pictures are fun to look at and follow the routes with fingers. The story is very catchy and easy for little ones to follow. Very happy with our purchase. Even the hubby said it's a brilliant book and he hardly ever comments on the books we read usually! Reccomend to any young readers especially ones that love animals little.
